Two legends of Irish Music have been confirmed for this years Foxford Traditional Weekend taking place from the 18th - 21st October.​​

Manchester duo Michael McGoldrick and Dezi Donnelly will attend this years event as guest tutors and performers.    They will give masterclasses in flute and fiddle on Saturday the 20th of October from 2 - 4pm.  Later that evening the duo will perform at the Féile concert and launch their long awaited brand new album 'Dog in the Fog'.  Festival director Stephen Doherty said "Its such an honour to be able to confirm that we have Mike and Dezi coming to this years event, these lads are among the very best out there and being able to offer young musicians here in the West of Ireland the chance to interact and learn from them in a masterclass situation is a once in a lifetime opportunity".  Michael McGoldrick & Dezi Donnelly have been at the forefront of Irish Music for over 20 years with numerous solo albums under their belts they've performed and recorded with all the top names in the industry including:  Mark Knopfler, Lunasa, Sharon Shannon, Flook, Cappercaille, Toss the feathers and many more. Foxford Traditional Weekend 18th-21st October

Music lovers from far and near will enjoy a feast of traditional music, song and dance this October as ‘Foxford Traditional Weekend’ gets underway from the 18th - 21st October. The town which is a haven for many musicians will host the annual event and there is a serious line-up for this year’s festival.
Events will commence with Cathy Jordan, Eleanor Shanley, Colm O'Donnell and Don Stiffe in concert on Thursday 18th October in Foxford Secondary School Hall. They will be joined by Pat Coyne on guitar and two well-known local musicians David Doocey and Stephen Doherty. This promises to be a great night and the perfect start to a jam-packed musical weekend.
A session trail of music around the town, will commence following the concert and will continue at different times, day and night, for the whole weekend, in all seven public houses. The session trail will include some of Ireland’s finest musicians from all parts of the country and this ‘high energy’ trail is sure to lift your heart and get your feet tapping. All musicians are invited to join in the session trail or initiate their own session in one of the many nooks and crannies.
The standard and quality of music from the younger generation is just inspiring and a showcase of their talent will be on show during ‘Teen Trad’ in Cruiser's on Friday evening at 7pm. This event will feature many All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil finalists and indeed winners, from all over Connacht and will not disappoint.
A series of workshops and master classes will take place over Saturday and Sunday with some of Ireland’s leading tutors including Bernie Geraghty, Marianne Knight, Siobhan O'Donnell and the fantastic guitar player from Co Fermanagh, Lorena Maguire...to name a few. ‘Masterclass Tutors’ for the weekend are renowned musicians Michael McGoldrick and Dezi Donnelly from Manchester. Other workshops over the weekend include tin-whistle, flute, fiddle, banjo, accordion, concertina, guitar, piano accompaniment, bodhrán, lilting and singing. Gerard Butler Dance will teach the set-dancing class while Edwina Guckian and Liam Ó Scanláin will give a talk and workshop on sean-nós dancing.
A performance master class will be held to cater for proficient musicians. They will be guided under the instruction of Stephen Doherty. This group will have the opportunity to perform at the Saturday night concert alongside greats like Michael McGoldrick, Dezi Donnelly, weekend tutors and many, many more fabulous musicians.
Sean-nós dancers will be put through their paces on Saturday afternoon with the sean-nós dancing competition which will start at 4pm in the Mayfly Hotel. There will also be individual competitions for the cailíní agus na buachaillí and all ages are catered for. Music by melodeon player, Tom Doherty.
‘Féile Concert’ on Saturday night at 8pm in the Mayfly Hotel will feature the ‘Guest Tutors’, Michael McGoldrick and Dezi Donnelly and Sligo based Oisín Mac Diarmada & Samantha Harvey. It’s guaranteed to be a great night of ceol, damhsa agus craic. The concert will also feature many of the weekend tutors and visiting musicians, singer and dancers. A must for all true Irish music lovers.

A Cultural Weekend of Music, Song and Dance in Foxford
